What I’m Watching: Fuller House

If you haven’t binge watched Fuller House on Netflix yet, I am not sure we can be friends. When I first heard about this revival I was so excited, and I have to say they did a pretty great job! Sometimes reunion episodes or sequels can fall flat, but Fuller House may just be the exception to that rule.

For anyone who hasn’t seen Fuller House (or the trailers and cast press interviews!), the show starts with a recently widowed DJ raising her three boys. Stephanie and Kimmy decide to step in and help her, and all three of them move their families into the Tanner family home. Danny, Uncle Jesse, Aunt Becky, and Joey make appearances throughout the series. Michelle unfortunately does not come back to San Francisco, but there are a few funny moments regarding her absence.

This new show definitely keeps the same underlying themes of Full House alive. I like that you can see pieces of Uncle Jesse and Joey in Kimmy and Stephanie while they help DJ. There are of course the life lessons and funny moments throughout every episode but they are modified to fit today’s modern problems. I don’t want to give anything away, of course… but it is definitely a great new show you need to watch!

Have you seen Fuller House? Thoughts? Love it or hate it?

Apartment Finds: Ottomans

My apartment has definitely come together in a lot of ways over the last few months! I love how homey it feels when I walk in the door. But I’ve also learned that decorating is a constant work in progress, I don’t think I’ll ever feel like it’s finished. I am always thinking of new things I want to do in my space (that also falls within my budget!) The next thing on my apartment list is a new ottoman. Right now I have this old pink cube from college that doubles as extra storage (a necessity in any tiny NYC apartment!). Unfortunately it is starting to fall apart and the pink isn’t exactly as bright or clean as it used to be. In an effort to update my apartment aesthetic (and storage!), I decided to search for a few new options. Here are my favorites so far!

Keeping with a navy blue theme, this pattern is a great pair for my brown faux leather couch.

Newtown Storage Ottoman

I love the shelf beneath this ottoman. I can store all my favorite coffee table books without getting in the way of putting my feet up. It also comes in a cute floral pattern that could work too!

Anne Skirted Storage Ottoman

I am clearly a fan of patterns! I can’t get enough of this skirted option.

Classic Collection Vintage Script Fabric Round Storage Ottoman

This one reminded me of a postcard!

For my space, I am clearly looking to incorporate navy! Since my curtains and bedding have touches of navy, I want to make sure my ottoman doesn’t feel out of place. The great thing is that there are plenty of options out there! I don’t think I’ve found a winner yet, but I’m not giving up.

101 in 1001 countdown

Today marks one year until the end date for my 101 in 1001 list! For those of you stopping by All Shook Up for the first time, this is the list I created after reading Mackenzie Horan’s blog Design Darling while I was in college. I was immediately taken with the idea and decided to start my own list, in the hopes that it would be better than a bucket list.

101 things in 1001 days

So far I have checked off a few #s on the list, but I’ll admit I still have a ways to go. I think the craziest part about reviewing my list is thinking back on when I first wrote it. It was the summer after my college graduation when I was still living at home with my parents, unemployed, without a clue where I was headed. Writing this list was so daunting because in the following months I wasn’t sure if I would be working in NYC, finding a way to get back to Sydney, Australia, or taking a completely different path I hadn’t fully formed yet. A lot in my life has changed since that summer, but surprisingly many of my goals still fall within the realm of possibility for completion by next February. Some things listed are definitely easier to accomplish than others , but I think reaching the one year countdown is the perfect reminder to go after them!

Countdown: 24 complete, 77 to go!

Just like podcasts, I will admit I was pretty late to the Goodreads game.  My mom had mention the website a few times in passing whenever she talked about her book club. It never struck me as something I would be interested in. So instead, over the last few years I have kept a running list of Books To Read in my evergrowing Evernote lists. Lets just say this became tricky to track and I have no doubt that some books were listed twice or even three times accidentally. I would also attempt to keep track of books I’d read by highlighting them. This was definitely not a perfect system.

On a whim, I decided to check out what Goodreads was all about, and now I am absolutely hooked. One of my goals for myself this year is to read more. I loved to read in college, and it was pretty much a necessity for an English Literature and Political Science major. Also, turning off my phone and reading before I fall asleep has made a huge difference in how well I sleep.

This app is exactly what I never knew I needed. I love that I can keep track of all the books I want to read, as well as pace how many books I read overtime, all in one place. It is nice to be able to look back on all the books I have read and to provide my own reviews. I also set a reading goal for 2016… read 25 books this year! I know that doesn’t sound like a lot, but it will definitely be a challenge for me. In some ways Goodreads has reinvigorated my love of reading. I like the challenge and the ability to track status on different books. The best part? I can see what my friends are reading and add them to my lists.

Check out what books I’ve read and am currently reading here.
