Oscars 2016: Best Dressed

Unless you are living under a rock, you were watching The 88th Academy Awards last night. Compared to all the other awards show recently, (in my humble opinion) the Oscars had by far the best fashion. This made it very tricky to narrow down my favorite looks because there was so much variety and risk taking on the red carpet last night. So here they are, the best dressed celebrities of the night.

Jennifer Lawrence

This was hands down one of my favorite looks of the night. JLaw looked like a queen walking down the red carpet in this black Dior Haute Couture gown.

Daisy Ridley

Daisy Ridley

The Star Wars: The Force Awakens actress, sparkled in a midi-length silver frock by Chanel Haute Couture. I think what I love most about this dress is how the length allowed it to stand out from the pack. The midi-length plus the sparkly earrings, bracelet, and ring were truly styled to perfection.

Saoirse Ronan

Looking like a glittery mermaid, Saoirse rocked a sequined emerald Calvin Klein Collection dress. Her mismatched earrings (one pearl and one emerald by Chopard) were the perfect touch for this look!

Brie Larson

The Oscar winner rocked a blue embellished gown by Gucci, which she paired with a matching jeweled hair accessory. Although I personally thought the belt was a bit too much, as a whole she looked beautiful walking down the red carpet.

Jennifer Garner

Jennifer chose an off-the-shoulder black Atelier Versace gown and opted to keep her hair pulled back for the occasion. I am convinced she just becomes more beautiful with age!

All eyes on her! Naomi Watts stunned at the 2016 Oscars on Sunday night slipping into a stunning Armani Prive gown embellished with thousands of sequins

Naomi Watts

Sparkly gowns were definitely a trend last night! Naomi chose a purple and blue strapless sequined Armani Prive gown. She looked absolutely stunning in this colorful option.

Chrissy Teigen

I am pretty sure no one can rock pregnancy fashion quite like Chrissy. She opted for a red beaded sheer “naked” gown for the Oscars, and was absolutely glowing. The best part of her look? Her husband John Legend, they are seriously #relationshipgoals.

Rooney Mara

Rooney’s sheer white gown by Givenchy Haute Couture was truly a piece of art. She looked like a futuristic bride in this embroidered dress with a diamond cut out for an added point of interest.

Margot Robbie

I guess it’s true what they say, “Dress for the job you want!” Margot was definitely channeling Oscar vibes in her gold Diane Von Furstenberg gown. The deep V-neckline perfectly balanced out the long sleeved gown, keeping Margot from getting lost in the material.

Rachel McAdams

Rachel McAdams

Last but certainly not least, Rachel opted for an emerald gown and completely stole the show with this backless August Getty Atelier choice. Pairing this dress with a slicked back updo, neutral makeup, and sparkly dangling earrings allowed the actress to shine.

Grammy’s 2016: Best Dressed

Okay, I’ll admit it… I didn’t watch the 58th Annual Grammy’s Awards Show on Monday night. This past weekend, I spent time in my hometown, enjoying the fireplace and free cable while my parents were away. But by the time I got back to the city Monday afternoon all I wanted to do was prepare for Tuesday, and then crash. And let me tell you, yesterday was surprising in more ways than one, but that’s a post for another day! Anyway, let’s get to the best looks of the night.

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift

Taylor’s fashion choice for the Grammys certainly did not disappoint. She continued full force with the crop top trend, by pairing a tangerine top with a pink maxi skirt. My favorite part? All the memes from the night!

Selena Gomez

Taylor’s partner-in-crime and date for the night showed up in a sparkly royal blue gown that was a total show stopper. This dress fit her like a glove, and the cut outs added a nice point of intrigue on the dress.

Kaley Cuoco

Kaley Cuoco

I loved Kaley’s outfit for the night. I thought this sequined jumpsuit was a fun choice for the red carpet and the cutouts kept her from getting lost in the material. Not just anyone could pull of this look, but Kaley looked absolutely amazing.

Ellie Goulding

Ellie chose a pale blush gown with a beautifully intricate beaded back. I was surprised by her choice since it was more simple than her usual ensembles. Nevertheless she looked beautiful in this glamorous outfit.

Chrissy Teigen

The glowing mother-to-be rocked the red carpet in a white fitted gown and sequined cape overlay. It was definitely a risky choice, but Chrissy (like always!) looked incredible!

kate spade new york: broome street

I’ll admit, I am a bit of a kate spade addict. I love her handbags and her accessories in particular, and I am constantly looking for new pieces to add to my growing collection. However, kate spade apparel is the one place I haven’t fully delved into because frankly I cannot afford her beautiful clothes. I would love to own a hot pink coat or a sparkly dress, but right now I just cannot justify the cost. That was until I received an email earlier this week!

The daily kate spade emails are one of the only emails I tolerate in my Inbox these days. Ever since discovering Unroll.Me it has been SO much easier to clear out all the clutter that gathers in my various email accounts. It also helps me resist the urge to online shop whenever a sale pops up. I will admit though that sometimes those kate spade surprise sales get me 😉

broomestreet1When I received the email announcement about kate spade broome street, I was immediately smitten! broome street is their new label of casual, timeless, classics that you can effortlessly mix into your wardrobe. In September 2015, kate spade new york President and Chief Creative Officer Deborah Lloyd described the upcoming kate spade broome street line as, “a more casual expression of everything we do, and is an entry into the brand.”

I’m pretty sure by now every young professional has heard the term “wardrobe staples” more times then we can count. It’s one of those terms that becomes synonymous with resumes and interviews in the months following graduation. Over the last few years, I’ve learned that it is worth investing in these pricier but timeless pieces rather than dozens of cheap tops for fraternity party themes. It may be more upfront initially, but it’s apparel you will keep on rotation within your closet for years to come! broome street perfectly encompasses this concept of wardrobe investment pieces.

As I scrolled through the broome street collection I could immediately picture each piece in my own closet. It includes truly classic and functional pieces. And although they are more expensive then your average dresses or jackets, I know that they are worth the splurge!

Here are just a few of my favorites from this new collection:

 What’s your favorite?!

Jacqueline de Ribes: The Art of Style

Earlier this year, my mom and I went to The Metropolitan Museum of Art to see the Jacqueline de Ribes: The Art of Style exhibit. After seeing my photos of the China: Through the Looking Glass exhibit a few months ago, my mom wanted to check out the latest costume exhibit.

We invited my godmother and her daughter, (who are basically extensions of our family!), to join us. Last winter, we all went to the MoMA to see the Henry Matisse exhibit together. My godmother is an incredibly talented artist (and even created a piece I’ve had hanging in my childhood room for 20+ years and is now in my apartment!) who has a knack for slowing me and her daughter Virginia down in museums to really stop and appreciate the art. I may not know a lot about art, but I’ve learned that if you have a visceral reaction to something, that makes it art. It’s something special to you. It was such a great experience at the MoMA that we were hoping they would make the trek back to the city to see this costume exhibit. Unfortunately due to some unexpected news, they were unable to join us. My mom was still able come into the city so we decided to have a girls day. We went to my favorite restaurant chain, Sarabeth’s, before admiring the Jacqueline de Ribes collection.

Let me just say, this collection did not disappoint! I’ll admit, I had never heard of Jacqueline de Ribes before this exhibit, but I was completely starstruck by her collection. The use of color and texture was absolutely breathtaking. My favorite part? Stopping to read her many quotes. Jacqueline was clearly the epitome of glamour and grace. This exhibit will be closing on February 21st, so go while you still can!

Golden Globes 2016: Best Dressed

Last night the 73rd Golden Globes honoring the best in TV and film was all anyone could watch/tweet about! As with most awards show, I could not help but round up my favorite looks spotted throughout the night. Here is my list of must see looks from the awards show!

Brie Larson

Brie looked like a golden goddess in her halter Calvin Klein gown. This look is sure to top all the Best Dressed articles.

Zendaya brought the drama to the red carpet in this show stopping Marchesa gown. The star opted for a red dress with floral embellishments and tiered skirt. Simple accessories in the form of jeweled dropped earrings and a black clutch kept Zendaya’s look from becoming too overwhelming.

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga exuded Hollywood Glamour in this Marilyn Monroe styled ensemble.

Jenna Dewan Tatum

This is hands down one of my favorite looks from the night. Jenna looked absolutely stunning in this navy blue gown with layers of sequins. If only I had an excuse to wear a dress like this…

Saoirse Ronan

Saoirse looked angelic walking the red carpet last night in Yves Saint Laurent. Her Grecian goddess gown was like a breath of fresh air from the multitude of sparkles and brightly colored dresses around her.

Kate Bosworth

Kate was a sparkly mermaid in this strapless pink Dolce & Gabbana sequined gown.

People’s Choice Awards 2016: Best Dressed

Last night’s People’s Choice Awards Show was filled with some crazy moments (that guy that jumped on stage during The Talk acceptance speech!) and stunning fashion! Here are my favorite celeb ensembles from the night.

Kate Hudson

Because a jumpsuit never goes out of style! Kate Hudson looked incredible in this simple white Galvan jumpsuit. It was the perfect choice to represent a fresh start in fashion in the new year!

Dakota Johnson Dress Peoples Choice Awards

Dakota Johnson

Okay so this photo does NOT do this look any justice, but I couldn’t find a shot of Dakota on the red carpet. Her sparkly Armani Prive top and matching floor length skirt moved beautifully as she stepped on stage to accept her award for Favorite Dramatic Movie Actress. I think my favorite part was the thin straps on the crop top, it gave her look a more 90s feel. Hands down my favorite look of the night!

Ashley Benson

Beaded shoulders added a touch of glam to Ashley’s little black minidress.

Lea Michele

Lea also jumped on the LBD trend in this Elie Saab embroidered mini dress. I love that she picked an edgier look compared to her typically more colorful awards show outfits.

Julianne Hough

Julianne looked sleek and sparkly in her off the shoulder crop top and matchy skirt. I think her choice of smoky eye and topknot hair styling pulled this entire look together beautifully
