October is the best month of the year for a variety of reasons. It marks the true changes in weather from summer to fall, Halloween, my birthday, and it is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month! The first time I mentioned on the blog that I worked at Estée Lauder was my first post on Breast Cancer Awareness. One of the things that I love most about The Estée Lauder Companies is its focus on breast cancer awareness.
The Estée Lauder Companies’ Breast Cancer Awareness (BCA) Campaign was founded in 1992 by the late Mrs. Evelyn H. Lauder through the launch of the Pink Ribbon. This has since become the universal symbol for breast health. The mission of the BCA campaign is to defeat breast cancer through both education and medical research. It is active in over 70 countries and has raised more than $58 million to support global research, education and medical services; with close to $46 million funding 185 Breast Cancer Research Foundation®(BCRF) research projects worldwide over the past 21 years. To say that this campaign has made a difference is huge understatement.
This year’s BCA Campaign theme is “Every Action Counts” This campaign allows individuals to tell their own story of facing breast cancer through text, photo, or video. For the first time, the BCA Campaign is enlisting the support of the global community to create an international, multimedia project that will be shareed globally on World Cancer Day, February 4, 2016. All actions submitted via BCAcampaign.com between October 1 and December 31, 2015 will be eligible for inclusion. This inspiring project will beautifully capture the range of actions being taken globally to end this disease, and will serve as an inspiration for everyone around the world to continue to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer.
Many The Estée Lauder Companies brands come together annually to create Pink Ribbon Products to raise awareness for breast cancer and funds for medical research.
A few of my favorites are:
If you would rather donate money directly to the cause check out the BCA Donation Page and help The Estée Lauder Companies Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign reach its $6 million dollar goal!! I think that it is so important to give back, and for a cause this important, why wouldn’t you donate a few dollars? Or even better, buy a few adorable pink products for a cause!
