What I’m Watching: Grace and Frankie

I have mentioned this countless times here, but I watch a lot of TV. Even though I do not have cable, I still somehow watch tons of TV and movies, especially Netflix. Every month I highlight the latest additions to Netflix and what I have been watching most recently was highlighted in last month’s round up!

Grace and Frankie stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, and somehow I knew that this would be a must-see show. This Netflix original stars these incredibly talented actresses as  frenemies who are forced to reinvent their lives after their husbands (Martin Sheen and Sam Waterston) leave them for each other. It is hilarious but also shows how strong both women are in light of all this change. Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin have only become more talented with age! I cannot recommend this show enough!

I also may or may not have watched the entire first season in one day. I love how strong both Grace and Frankie are, they are completely bad ass. Even though they bicker and have a passive-aggressive relationship, both Grace and Frankie are likeable characters and their banter is hysterical to watch. Grace and Frankie is also a show that mixes both the old and new, which is very compelling creatively. It is interesting to see a show that highlights the complicated task of changing your life in your 70s. It is also fun to watch the sophiscates (Robert & Grace) and the hippies (Saul & Frankie) handle this bizarre situation. It is comical but somehow relatable. You feel connected to each of the characters as they best try to make it through this strange situation. It is a TV show completely unlike anything I have ever seen before, plus it includes an all star cast, making it a winning combination.

It was also just announced that Grace and Frankie was renewed for a second season, and many attribute that to a celebrity tweeting her love for the show. So thank you Miley Cyrus!
