This year in All Shook Up I want to focus on all the things that I learned over the last year. Recently one of my sorority sisters who is still at Bucknell reached out to me about internships and the job search process. As I rounded up all my words of wisdom it got me thinking about all the different questions I had as a college student slowly inching her way towards graduation and the real world. So I thought I would use my blog as a resource to those college students who are worrying about the future. One of the biggest pieces of advice I have for my friends still in college is to start building a career wardrobe…NOW! It is a great idea to start investing in pieces that you know you can use in the months to come, not just for that themed frat party next weekend. To help you with this shopping challenge I rounded up my favorite places to shop for new additions to my own growing career wardrobe.
Raise your hand if you own a pair of Express Editor Pants. This tailored pant looks amazing on all shapes and sizes and is the perfect staple for your career wardrobe. Express is a great option for pants and colorful blouses that you can mix and match.
A division from Ann Taylor, this store is a great choice for recent graduates. It has trendy merchandise that work both in and out of the office. Their pieces range from the usual classic black and white to more colorful options. LOFT is a solid choice because the styles are also age appropriate for those of us who are just starting out in our first jobs.
One of my favorite pieces in my entire wardrobe is a classic black blazer from H&M. Although this store has tons of options that definitely wouldn’t work in an office environment, its business section is spot on. This is a great stop for outfits within a recent college graduate’s budget.
A classic for a reason, Gap has tons of great options that can be worn to work. From tailored pants to basics that work all year round, Gap is a must.
Although J.Crew is great for everyday ensembles, many of their pieces can fit into a career wardrobe perfectly. With a wide array of sweaters and classic pieces, J.Crew is a necessary stop for looks that are both stylish and good quality.
