If I were a flower, I would be a sunflower…

Sunflower

If I were a flower..

I would be a sunflower.

To always follow the sun,

Turn my back to darkness,

Stand proud, tall and straight

Even with my head full of seeds.

So before it truly feels like fall I wanted to reflect on an amazing day I had this summer. In life, it is all about the little things. This is a lesson we have heard all our lives, and it rang true for me over Labor Day Weekend. It may have been mentioned in previous posts but I absolutely LOVE sunflowers. Since I was a little girl I always thought that they were beautiful. It is impossible to be sad while holding sunflowers. A few weeks ago my mom was reading NJ Magazine and saw an article about a Sunflower Maze in Sussex, NJ. Knowing how much I love sunflowers we decided to travel to this maze and spend the day together. Instead of describing this little slice of heaven, I thought I would just show you…

The sunflower maze was a little slice of heaven.

The sunflowers went on for miles!

I am so glad that my mom and I decided to visit this sunflower maze! There were tons of families of all ages snapping photos and enjoying the amazing views. It was good ol’ fashion family fun, and it felt like a summertime equivalent to pumpkin picking. After walking through the maze we picked out our own sunflowers and bought some Jersey Devil Salsa (which was absolutely delicious!) We decided to grab lunch across the street at Roseline’s Farm & Bakery and ordered delicious sandwiches and iced tea. Overall it was a wonderful way to spend the last weekend of summer and my mom and I both agreed that this would become an annual tradition.
